Now I made these twins yesterday I was looking at the CCCB challenge with my phone and apparently couldn't grasp the colours right ;( when I sat down at my computer I gasped at the colors they were not right at all... but they turned out so pretty I just wanted to share them with you anyways,

oh well i am not sure if I will be able to make a set of identical cards on time.... I hope you enjoyed taking a peek though, and the new photo in my header are my valentine's flowers that hubby surprised me with!!!

Now I should play a guessing game with you to see how many recycled items you can find, but they are so sneaky I should just tell you up front! Here's the first one:

As I was opening a package of gems I realized it had the most perfect ivory and so I went ahead and punched it.

Can you find the next one? I will tell you: it is a sparkler pacakge being used as my photo mat and behind it is another piece of recycled material.

more sparkler this time, 3 different packages I used in this LO, I wanted to incorporate the gems in the bling swirl as past of it, since I had several browns saved from other projects.

Can you spot the clear sparkler among the flowers? My little one was one of the models at the mall, an Easter runway, have to say I was really surprised she didn't even flinch with all those people staring and cheering her, she is rather bashful. She looked like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman!!!

Happy Valentine's Day everybody!!! Well I am up for another challenge over at the Shabby Tea Room and cherry oh is their theme to celebrate National Cherry Month!
Look at this yumminess

makes me want to have my own basket of fresh picked goodness!!! and since the challenge required some cherries here's what I did

I used some chipboard cherries by Dear Lizzy and altered them with bling, I stamped the word sweet in both sides of my tiny flag with a Maya Road stamp on a MR pin.

The other side is equally pretty showing a button and a bloom...

And here is my slice of sweet cherry pie, I just want to eat it up!

Working with the colors of the rainbow sure makes you breath fresh air and the smell of rain and the sights of clouds and sun...This week over at CCCB the challenge is just that the colours of the rainbow! This is Ros beautiful inspiration photo
I did some recycling to do an off the page project and worked with a brand new one, a honeycomb pad. Instead of working the crepe paper half way I did a 360 and opened it.

to make a hot air balloon, I inserted a toothpick for my sentiment and made just the tiniest ag with a stamped sentiment by Maya Road

for the recycled spool I cut a 1 inch circle of patterned paper to cover some tiny recycled foam inside the spools holes, this gives stability to my design and holds the ballon in mid air.

Then I added yet mor patterned paper to make a pretty design for the basket!

I had a lot of fun creating this , hope you enjoy it as much as i did.

and the sketch to follow is this one

This is the love of my life , my DH, we have been together 17 years, and as the title says even time hasn't changed my love for him

I wrote my subtitle on his picture

my Imaginarium chipboard inked with metallic ink and embossed with clear powder

the pull out tag for all my heartfelt journaling

And a close up view of the LO, I chose a chicken wire mask to make the circle in the sketch

I just loved wotking with this Graphic 45 line, he is a different kind of gentleman, my own!

Good morning everyone today is week 100!!!! at The Shabby Tearoom and this weeks theme is candy hearts. Wow I am so honored to be their guest designer this week, here is the inspiration photo

What a fun display of yumminess, the candy hearts, the pop corn, the fork & spoon. All of this gave way to my inspiration, I wanted to create a Kitchen Diva, you all know how I love the off the page projects and this one was no exception. She needed to be trendy, fashionable with a sense of style... Well I saw this wire manequin a while ago and purchased it with the intention of altering it and never did. After seeing Debbie's photo I just knew what to do.

I gave her a one shoulder dress with a full skirt in the Crate Paper style, a Webster's fabric bloom is her corsage. She needed a stylish apron and my mom had given me just the perfect doilies for her height, a rectangle one. Then I made her a cute wire banner to hang her kitchen hardware!!

She has muffin pans, cutlery, measuring cups, frying pans, a tea cup and a lot of hearts!!

The fork and spoon come from a piece of Webster paper, you can see the seams I pleated to fill her bust line. I just adore the end result and now have one gorgeous girl to decorate my kitchen with.!!!

Guest Designer work for 3 Scrappy Boys!

Hello my blogging friends, just got back from CA, CHA was awesome I promise to share a ton of photos later!
Today's post will be about the February kits at 3 Scrappy Boys! When Heather asked me to guest design in February I was so delighted. What a fabulous opportunity to work with their kit, so full of goodies and beautiful things. This is what found me when I opened the box

My inspiration was immediate and my surprise at the piece of fabric was just pure delight, you all know how I love mix media. So let's begin with the inspiration
fabric bloom...
I used a gloober to make the rose and used the pins to give it the final touch. This pic gives you a closer look unto my recycling process, see the bits of paper, I used EVERYTHING!!!

After punching my cardstock I decided to fill some of the hearts with the scrap hearts from this LO, I thought they looked so much fun, both sides at a timeCan you believe how perfect this collection was for our recent rip to Italy, these were among my fave photos of the trip and when I saw the papers I just knew what to do!
Now back to the fabric. I wanted to use it as a patterned paper, you see I had these photos from the island of Burano and I knew the fabric was the perfect match!
I went ahead and used my sewing machine to adhere the paper and took advantage of the Maya Road tickets to journal how magical the small Isola was. I cheated and used my xacto knife to extract a piece for my photo mat from the back of the paper and then used my distress tool to scratch the surfaces of the cardstock paper, loved the finish.
For the corner I covered the hearts in various PP and folded it in place in the shape of a flower. I was thinking about the best way to use all the MR chipboard pieces and started playing at random, all of a sudden thay clicked into place and I had myself a damask pattern with them. I decided to cover them in PP that I also cheated from the back of the next LO, LOL
We had the most fabulous lunch at Galuppi Rest and I needed to document all the wonderful details of our meal, the limoncello, the baked fish the buranello, ahhh they will be in my palate forever. Now don't you just adore the beaded flower? I did and so I used my second one in the banner here:

I also made this with some of the sticker pieces and more fabric remnants

I think they would be so perfect for your little ones on Valentine's Day.
If you can believe me when I say I still have one more piece of paper to work with. I will of course share when I finish. Mr & Mrs

There is something about that, just love the sound of the Mr & Mrs and envision the 2 of us together...
The Shabby Tearoom is having a sparkly and bright challenge this week, using white / cream, silver and a splash of pink, check out this inspiration:

This inspired me to work on the MR & Mrs and do a wedding inspired card:

The silver, sparkly...you know Basic Grey's new Valentine's line? I sneeked a piece of a heart to the Fancy PAnts charm and covered it up with glossy accents for the extra sparkle. I love how it dangles from the bow, the pin comes from a K & Co set, so pretty like lace. The cream colored paper is a piece of Western Romance by Webster's, th epearl/crystal swirl is by Prima.

For the splash of pink I went with some ruffled pink tulle underneath the pp and a piece of Crate Paper to accentuate the doily by K & CO, the sentiment is a stamp by Paper Trey

And officially today is my birthday!!!! it was filled with fun, the best of friends and the TLC of my loving family, I love you all!!!!

These are believe it or not, dark chocolate, belgian tea cups, OMG!!! delish with the fresh strawberries, THANK YOU Judelly, Myriam baked me the most scrumptious chocolate cake ever, Ana Maria was in charge of my wardrobe and accesories, Tere brought awesome wine and gourmet coffee and Betty gave us the best coquito in town!!!

I will be at CHA this weekend so I know I will be seeing first hand all of the goodness coming your way, I will keep you posted, hugs

Happy Sunday everyone. I have been meaning to post this one for a while. Last month we went to a wedding and I snapped this one of my DD

I thought she looked so perfect ni her pretty dress and red just suits her so much. Well when I went to pick up my prints the lab tech surprised me with a 5x7 sepia copy and I thought it would be just the perfect addition to Webster's Western Romance collection. It took me 3 hours to unite all my fuzzy cutting into one LO and here is the result, I think it was all so worth it:

This paper I cut following the scallops, had a lot of dots and I thought they looked like lace, but were too pale and needed to be accentuated , hence the 5 rows of pearls...

These Prima birds are TDF cute!!!

My journaling perfectly tucked in behind the photo and easily pulled out by a cameo pin!

I don't know if you have seen this video, but the first time I saw it was in Nickelodeon with my kids and I cried ( I know...) when I saw it, so take a peek and enjoy the world united!!!

10 of my Fave's chipboard projetcts

I drool over Imaginarium chipboard, dreaming of the day I'll be able to have it in my hands and play with... Chipboard and I go way back when I figured how to x-acto a scroll to decorate a Christmas page for my son way back in 2005. Then the market started pouring in the fab material I could distress at my will, love at first sight ever since. More recently they started adding laser cuts (insert ahhhhh here) and they made it even cuter. Since there is a good chance I can play with it I have prepared this entry for Imaginarium.

My most fave chipboard projects:

Chipboard is pretty in its own right, so here is a LO made with raw chipboard I just love the contrast of the almost kraft look with pastels

This is a Christmas project I made die-cutting chipboard and dressing it up with paper, paint and glitter. It just got featured at the Scrap for Help blog.

This one used to be a flat ornate frame, I wanted to make a 3d box to make a prayer decoration for my daughter's bedroom. With some more chipboard to make the box I ended up with this, finished in paint and glitter

Inspired by a drawing I made on a LO for my daughter's first piano recital, I designed my own chipboard and cut and finished it for this LO. There is a picture of the chipboard and the one with the drawing.

This used to be flat chipboard houses that I converted to a 3d version, I love doing home decor and off the wall projects and this one was featured on the Crate Paper blog.

This one is a card I made dressing up the chipboard with embossing powder for texture and also covering in paper.

This one is a Christmas ornament, I painted with acrylics and then covered in glossy accents for a glass like effect, the scroll is done with glitter

This one is a close up view of an inked and embossed piece of chipboard I embellised for a card.

And this one is a cupcake box I made entirely out of chipboard all dressed up in paper and sequins

And I can tell you for sure the recipient loved it as much as I did creating it and its pattern.

I hope you enjoyed browsing over my fave projects, some time it is so hard to choose since I pour so much love when I make them. I know I am missing Halloween and Easter they are in the blog I just had to pick just 10!

Arbolito, arbolito...♪♪♪

Campanitas te pondré, quiero que seas bonito, que al Recién Nacido te voy a ofrecer ♪♪♪...This is a beautiful Christmas song offering the Christmas Tree to the Newborn Child, and that is the theme of my LO today. December brings beautiful Christmas trees to the island and we can't wait to smell, touch and have a new one. We always wait until December so they last longer. Here in Puerto Rico we celebrate the 25th of December but also, the 6th of January when we celebrate the Epiphany, the coming of the Three Kings, or Wise Men to adore baby Jesus. So the tree stays put until January when the kids receive their last presents and then return to school shortly after!
OUAS challenge for this month is to journal about the thinsg we look forward in December, and one of them is the picking of the Christmas tree. This year we found some funky ones, real ones painted in cool colors, I almost couldn't resist, they were so pretty. We ended up picking an 8 footer that was perfect to hold our long collection of ornaments, so here it is!

Continuing with my daughter's obsession of playing in the snow I have created a snow man. My way, not very cold here and refraining to use pink was very, very hard...Thankfully I could use glitter! Do you remember Target's back to school ads? the one where the teacher said "glitter, so much glitter (insert giggles)"!!! loved her, I feel the same way. Anywhoo this one is my second entry into the The Shabby Tearoom thought it would be pretty cool to take him for a picnic!

No name for the fellow yet...As you can see there's a ton of glitter in his Websters hat of course, ferns (remember he's a guy from the tropics)!!! And glorious mica Flakes all over his face.

Happy Holidays!

We don't have freezing weather here, but in honor of my little one that dreams of playing in the snow I have decided to play over at the The Shabby Tearoom. where they have this glorious inspiration photo

I don't know if it's me but I see lace in those skates, cozy, beautiful and totally inspiring!!! And since I have decided to use a gorgeous Kraft doily I will also enter the card over at the Kraft Journal where they have a Christmas cards challenge.
I did my version in canvas, embroidered the boot laces and trim the tops with some vintage lace. For the blades I went all the way with the silver glitter, they are sooo sparkly and fun! Everything is nested atop a pretty Kraft doily and wrapped up in vintage ribbon.

I also used some Making Memories rub ons in silver glitter that gave it the special touch

Officially it's the Holiday Season, Ahhhh how do I love thee...Fresh Christmas Tree smell, cooler weather at least for us, from the average 85 down several degrees. This morning I saw the mountains covered in a veil of fog, always inspiring. The music changes, the spirit changes, there is hope in the air , poinsettias in the house, the nutcrackers already marched. I really can't wait to trim the tree, we picked him yesterday and we saw the coolest trees painted , we wanted a pink one!!!! and the one we picked:

Scrap for Help has a beautiful challenge for their month of November. To do a Christmas project with the theme of children. It is necessary to use recycled materials. I recycled chipboard to make it sturdy. So here is my entry, inspired in children's books I made a little Chritmas Cottage, little because it measures 5" x 3" . But it is big on details so much I had to use my twizzers to make the tiny banner on the top! The roof opens in case you want to turn it into a gift box and slip a gift card on the inside.

Told you I'd be back this week again. Today is my dear mom's birthday and she is not with us ;( she is visiting North Carolina with her best friend. I bet she is having a blast!
The beggining of this week brought to my inbox Audrey's guest spot for The Shabby Tearoom, 'Shabby Pastel Christmas' is their challenge and I felt so inspired I decided to play. See what I mean about the inspiration photo?

just makes me drool over the sweets and the pretty bouquet... and so I created various things along the week. Sometimes I just can't help myself so I will have to do multiple posts today in order to be able to submit them all!!!
Now anyone that knows me knows I decorate and make things for almost every season but Christmas is my favorite second to Halloween (there I go again...)
Since my first born is a boy it started with one nutcracker for a boyish Christmas, it has turned into an obsession and every year at least one joins the march. I even learned to play on the piano the Tchaikovsky's March of the Nutcracker. This year my best friend found a blank one!!! Can ypu believe it???? So I decided to use my favorite medium: Paper, and here is the result:

How could I not?

What a magical date 11/11/11 !!! I hope you all are well. I got back from my trip last week and it has been hard. I have been working with my husband instead of the store, helping out as best as I can, when I finally got back I felt I had no inspiration at all...I got stuck in not celebrating Halloween for the first time in 16 years and it feels like I can not move over because of it, weird??? I feel like putting up all the Halloween stuff just so I can move on. Read this conversation:
This week we were talking to our son and he was going over the calendar saying:

him: this Sunday is Family Day at school, remember?
me: but isn't your Family Day always in November?
him: MOM it is ALREADY November!!!
me:Gosh...when did it happen...

Any whoo this should give you an idea of where I am, I do hope I get back to it all next week.
As I was looking on blogosphere to be motivated I went to OUAS to see the new one and I guess I had to play. What a good way to get my mojo back tha to answer this weeks riddle:

Now Christmas is my favorite time of the year, by October last year I was finished with my ornaments, had stitched runners, quilts, pillows and even a tree rug! this year is another story with my trip and everything going on around me this is my first Christmas project!!! As I looked around Webster's pages had a home decor challenge and I made this for my entry:

It is a rotary calendar of the days before Christmas, there are 2 dials on the right and left for you to turn around so it matches the countdown! It was a past season item I saw that i will reveal later on on this post

I used the Winter Fairy Tale Collection as I was in LOVEEEE with it, who could resist those pinks, purples, turquoise and greens? not me for sure! I created a town scene, and made mountains with snow, glittery snow some bling and the tinsel trims they made, sparkle, sparkle how do I love thee? Let me count the ways...

I cut all the apers to make the pretty banner, there are all kinds of shapes just waiting to be discovered in those papers, let me tell you!

And can you spot the cameo??? those are GLORIOUS, my faves!!!

Mi inspiracion, You are...my inspiration and so much more! Hi This is my week's post I will take a short break leaving with my DH for 2 weeks!!!
I know it is Webster's again, what can say, love those papers to pieces. This time I wanted to do a LO about my little muse. After I had xactoed the center in the square and put my photo I found an awesome sketch ( it is at the end of this post) and I figured I already had the circle photo, not a rectangle, but it would work...you be the judge I love the result. You can check the site here!

I used several [apers from the AAM collection and the blooms, alphas and bling and I sneaked in a cameo pin, just because I couldnt resist!

Here she is, I wish you could see the whole outfit and my red high heels on, all 4 inches of them, she carries them more gracefully than I would ever do.

I thought this tiny bling from Basic Grey would fit the balloon flawlessly

Hi everyone , here I am playing with OUAS once again! It seems their challenges are just dropping from the sky either when I need inspiration or when I need some motivation for good journaling! This time the prompt is to write about 2 events that has been noteworthy to me recently. As you all know by now I have a new nephew. And having this newborn angel in the family is such a HUGE blessing! And from Sunday to Sunday I have had my son's first concert and my nephews dedication in church. Talk about REALLY noteworthy events! The prompt asked for at least 2 sentences, but I ended up writing so much about this 2 kids in the picture with me!

You see little Lucas was loved even before he was born, we so wanted to have him among us. I wrote in my journaling that he has been blessed to have been born in a family that loves him and has profound Christian values. He is loved beyond words and will be raised in a beautiful family. And we are also so proud of our son Diego and all his accomplishments, recently there are several things that have made us proud, like receiving the White Stag of the National Youth Leadsership and having his first guitar concert with a band from his music school. So definite Blessings indeed! I used the new Webster's Collection " All about me" collection, so perfect for the both of them.

As you can see, in my tyniest handwriting I wrote a lot for these 2!

Sketch 269 by Emmy has been posted up at Scrapbook Challenges and it is so fun to work!

Recently our son played in a band for the first time and we could not be more prouder!!! I remebembered hoarding this gorgeous DCWV paper for ages, hoping I would use it when he went to his first concert. This is SO MUCH better!!! I cut the guitar and to use the stripes in the sketch I mimicked the 5 strings of the guitar! and for the title I went hunting from all and new alphas for a fun title! I do hope you give it a try.
I want to thank all of you that supported the event I hosted to work against breast cancer.

National Youth Leadership and Hello!

Hi my dear readers CCG 210 is up and full of inspiration for you. This week the colors are way far from my comfort zone, as you all know I am a Pink Lady! But I also have a son and this weeks colors could not be more perfect to clebrate the White Stag he received after completing his NYL Training! He mas us so PROUD!!!

So here is the inspiration

I used woodgrain and ledger for the focus pon pattern , created the white stag from a Tim Holtz die as the base, handstitched my felt flags , ripped the paper and left the bottom of the page un cut, LOL!!!

For the inspiration card I made a cute Hello card, using this amazing sticker by Basic Grey

I just made a page for Scrapbook Challenges, their sketch this week # 267 called, begged for some stitches!

For my take I wanted to use more than one photo, they were too adorable to pass up! I have scrapped about Rosa before she is my DD's favorite doll, she is into plushies and she sleeps with her every night. We went together shopping and she felt in love with this watermelon outfit, since she never asks for anything I bought it for her and decided it would be so fun if we could dress Rosa like her...We bought the fabric and I did her outfit and she painted the watermelon seeds on the dress like the ones on her shirt. This is the first time I could photograph the 2 dressed like twins!

And of course my pint sized scrapper needed her own photos and she needed to do a page too, she even recycled the packaging of her Imaginisce journaling labels for her matted photos. But what
i find most impressive is her stitching, you have to take a look at her work with the needle and don't you just love what she did with her journaling tag, she drew the both of them!!!

Freeze frame! this week's them at CCG #209 is up, head on over to be inspired and to play, the designer's challenge Focus on Photos!

This week photo inspired me to create a border, if you look closely on the inspiration photo you will see a Greek "S". since I didn't have a graphic border I decided to create one using a mask and some ink, here is the look before I finished, I also used some Glimmer Mist to make some splatters in the back with a beautiful teal color!

Here is how it looks after the finishing all 4 sides!

I also painted some liquid pearls in Cantaloupe to accent my flower clusters.

For the card I made a recycled piece using the Pink Paislee packaging of my mistables

the packaging happened to be the perfect grey

and the cameo was the perfect focus on a single image potrait, if you look closely to the top shelf you will see the sculpture that has a cameo feel to it!

I heart you is their theme and I wanted t play with Jenni Bowlins stamp, I decided to change the star kite for a heart that I popped 3-d, some pearls and pleated paper, a bow a sealed with a kiss sentiment for you!

Well it has been a while since I have played just for the fun of it, specially in one of my favorite challenge sites. This week they have a use a sketch challenge, well I wanted to even make the sketch so here is my entry for the kraft journal.

yesteday my dogs were playing outside with some vines from an ivy in the yards wall, I figured I could play too, so took a piece and started weaving a tiny wreath. it did not wanted to stay plain, she was begging for some goodness so I gave her some Websters TLC love and she was happy, so she is my central focus along with the perfect sentiment: this moment is yours!

I also painted the edges with some bisque liquid pearls for good measure as the Kraft was begging me for some love too... Here is my sketch, what do you think? if you do something with it please link me to see it!

Welcome to a new week at CCG the inspiration this week is right up my alley and the deisgners challenge is PEARLS!!! how cool is that!

Don't you just adore the color names??? makes me want to sit down and enjoy a cup of mulberry tea, seasoned with some sugared lilac in a porcelain pearl cup!!! well here is what I came up with:

After seeing the inspiration photo I decided to drw, cut, stamp and paint some tea cups. I wanted them to stack and used a stamp by Kaisercraft to create the pretty blooms on the "porcelain" like the inspiration photo. Used some watercolors and some colored pencils to achieve the palette. Then I decided to sip my tea I needed a tea bag, hummm... I had some leftover paper, the one that covers glue dots so they don't stick to each other and I cut and folded it to make a tiny envelope to hold my "tea" In it I wrote in the tiniest handwriting the sentiment "you are my cup of tea" to seal it and finish it I made a tiny hole with a needle and threaded a piece of string. It is popped up in 4 layers of pop dots so that I could get 3 different letter and "really put my tea bag in! A lotof work but so well worth the effort! For the designers challenge PEarls I used my liquid pearls after drawing some "hot steam" and finished it up with some vintage blue fairy dust lace!
Here is the finished piece:

For my LO I was inspired by the old books so I used a print paper again, and the old print of tiny blooms reminded me of the porcelain cups blooms. For my mulberry color I used a cameo in between the flowers and after sewing the banner I dropped the needle on top of the LO, I thought it looked so cool I decided to just leave it there!

SHE has her dad wrapped around her finger...just look at them!

I matted in the fintest pink the white cardstock, it is a swiss dot by Bazzill

My mom gave me the vintage lace years ago, the blloms are all Prima from vqrious years in my "private collection" and the pearls are from Kaiser

Here is CCG 207... and the focus this week is on type! It can be dictionary, newsprint, old paper, script...

And the colors are....red, lilac,brown and white...inspired yet?

I also cut with my nestabilities some doiles and a border...

One thing I want you to know, beside being a pp hoarder, I am also a confesed flower hoarder too, true..not ashamed...so the controversial blooms are made by Prima, all of them, the red ones are , ready?

CCG new combo is live and there is a yummy monochromatic palette for you to work with! But there is also a twist, you must also follow a recipe!

Here is what a came up with,
a ledge done with a resin embellishment by Melissa France
Wood used wooden buttons and spools
stripes in my ribbon

Cap letters over the ledge
I wanted to wrap them up in the twine since they are together for the good and the mischief, I stamped in grey around the page a beautiful stamp by Pink Paislee, tore the edges so you could see the Websters behind and put my caps on the ledge like the inspiration photo.

For my card I used a piece of Websters to make my ledge and hold the letters and the wooden spool

and on the inside I wrote the following

the kraftjournal is having a challenge this week, like every Monday, I just haven't been able to play, but this week as I am setting myself to participate, this happened:

If you thought I was behind it, you thought wrong, LOL!!! there is someone else taking my place in this challenge. Remeber Little Miss M, this is totally her idea. I received a huge box yesterday, I heard her asking me for some scissors, not any scissors but ones that could cut cardboard. She has been trained on the proper use of scissors , never touch the fabric ones....Then she comes to me with this idea, that she wanted to do a notebook with the piece od folded box and that she had an idea for the closure, hummmm Then she needed to "borrow" some papers to cover her book, you know, pretty papers. So I gave her some Basic Grey...

Lessology is a new challenge blog founded by Angie and Yvonne. It is a challenge blog dedicated to altered things, hmmmm!!! Does that sound to you a ton like me!!! I am willing and able to alter anything that comes my way, specially if it's something that has seen it's prime and needs to be reused in another way!
They are looking for a new design team member, they want us to apply with our work, I first heard about the blog by Audrey, I can consider her my friend, although we have never met each other outside the blogosphere I bet you our conversation would go endless if we ever met each other face to face, I admire her work very much. So I decided to apply considering the subject is something pretty much my alley! Here is a lamp I gave new life to, basically rescued from the trash and turned to treasure!

There is a lot of love and work into this one, I used cardstock to cover up the beaten shade and misted it with some stencils, reused a piece of old lace for the bottom, flowers are old and new, butterfly is new.

If you look around my blog you will find a lot of projects that are off the page , I love creating from nothing, even constructing out from discarded cardboard boxes and reused chipboard, just take a look and see that altering stuff is just second nature to me

Color Combos 205 to the plus!!!

Hi everyone, I have been away , computerless, if that is a word... so I have missed stopping by everyone's blogs, I have no clue as to what is going on in the bloggosphere, and I miss you all so much.
Anywhoo being without a computer has its perks, I see everything on the positive side, yes I have been very productive, not spending so much time in the computer frees me to create. This weeks new palette is very inspiring, who doesn't love playing with dusty pink, red, beige and teal? In my book this is the ultimate plus!!!!

This is your inspiration photo and here is the CCG link so you go straight to the Reveal to be inspired.

Seeing these gorgeous women makes me want to be one of them, LOL, they are gorgeous. The focus is on product this time around, inspired by the photo you will have to use any kind of mesh material that works with the color combo.

This time I wanted to use this photo of me, yes every once in a while we need to have pages with ourselves in them. Remember the photo shoot we had back in May? well Myriam took this photo of me and I wanted to scrap it, it is a part of who I am, since I was in 5th grade I have been using a camera, I have taken so many moments in pictures I can not keep count.

Then I saw the sketch this week at OUAS and thought it was so perfect, I could scrap to one of my fave songs from Nickelback: Photograph, very appropriate for my photo...

Attitude, it suits you!

OUAS has their new sketch up, well since the first, I just had not found the time to play, here is the sketch for your inspiration, and mine...

pretty, isn't it! of courseI had to play, you see I have this photo of this little Miss who is full of attitude

you see that face? it is her no more pictures face!!!! gotta love her attitude, she comes out looking like a model withouot even intending too

this Webster's collection was made for her!

I saw that jar on the paper with the little LOL flag and I wondered how long will it last? this new way of talking in capital initials...I remember the first ime I saw it written in an email and wondered what it meant. The way this generation is teaching us new ways to express our emotions with smiley faces and initials and how imperative it is for us to catch up if we want to be able to communicate with them ;)

The challenge this time around for our Journalling Criteria: Finish this line "A PERFECT DAY IS....." . Your journalling has to be at least 2 lines long, and with the theme of a whatever a perfect day for you is or a perfect day that you have had already e.g. a birthday, a holiday, a childhood memory, a wedding day, graduation day etc. Your journalling can be ANY type : handwritten, typed, etc...

i am pretty sure I wrote more than 2 lines, I wanted to keep it clean and decided instead of stitching my borders to write all around my page, here is what I wrote:

"My dear Mercedes a perfect day for you is full of attitude. You can surprise me with your attitude, even when I attempt to take your photos. That sassy attitude of yours that I find so endearing and that gives you the perfect model shots. Keep it up little one, it suits you! "

This is my take on the inspiration board!

The challenge was to use some kind of translucent product in our page, so I used an overlay in the main photo.

This is combo 202, I didn't get a chance to present this one properly, I used a photo of one of my DH's begonis, the first one in the garden this year, and it looked like silk!

We have a POW challenge at SC to scraplift Jolanda's beautiful LO, hers is very feminine with florals and swirls mine is just the opposite being that I am scrapbooking my son. This is his first try at the Paddle Board, he has been practicing surfing in the summer so stepping on the PB was easy peasy for him. You need to have balance before you decide to take the oars...

Here is the full LO. Playa Azul or "Blue Beach" is located in beautiful Luquillo, PR and is a shallow coast line with a reef barrier a couple of miles out, you can find sea stars, sea cucumbers, sea urchins, small tropical fishes all around you, it is really pretty!

That is the quote I used for my journaling criteria for the OUAS sketch for the 15th of July, I loved this weeks sketch, here it is:

Inspiration can come from all sources, in my case I had a little one who had her first piano recital. I loved the center scroll in the sketch and wanted to use something that was music related. This past Saturday I sat down and drew my inspiration for this page. I wanted a pentagram and some music notes but I also wanted dimension as in chipboard, and so I created... here is some of the process

So without further a do I present to you palette 200

We continue celebrating National Ice Cream Month with a cool, smooth palette. Our Designer's Challenge is inspired by the melting creamsicles in the Inspiration Photo: Create a project using melting or dripping as a technique. For example you might melt embossing powder or wax and make a faux wax seal by stamping into it, or you might drip paint or some other liquid medium.

Isn't this totally delicious?

For my interpretation of the challenge I wanted to showcase my gorgeous nephew, he is just a week old in this picture. And so I wanted to do a very clean and graphic page so he would be the only thing standing out. This was very easy to create for me I was very inspired by him and the colors, that reminded me of a baby boy palette. I did some paint splatters on the background paper, again not too many as I wanted this clean, and painted with liquid pearls in cantaloupe the backgorund paper ribbon.
Here are some close ups of the work as you can see in the kraft title I melted some clear embossing powder using a Making Memories banner stamp. To achieve that effect all you have to do is wet you clear stamp with Versamark and then pour the clear embossing powder over it. When you melt the powder you will get that beautiful brown tone on Kraft. You can do this with any solid colored paper and you will get the same clear effect.

I also wanted to create a card, again inspired by the baby...We all need baby cards in our stash and this one can just help you give the perfect gift a special touch. Although I didn't photograph the process I will explain what I did.

I deconstructed a real Kraft envelope, what you see as the top flap with the pearls painted is one of the sides that are glued to make the envelope! I cut my blue cardstock to size, 1/4 inch less on each side of the envelope size. This I machine stitched to the kraft so that I could create a pocket to slip a note in, my machine decided no to cooperate any more, (hey that happens to the best of us, sometimes too!) and I was forced to replicate the stitching on the other side without any thread. Sometimes accidents make for the coolest effects, don't you think? I then matted the orange cardstock and cut a bit piece of white to surround it with the ribbon and tie the bow. The finishing touch is the bear journaling spot by Imaginisce, he is sooooo cute! I stamped my "for you" sentiment and melted some black embossing powder for it to stand out I also lifted it with a pop dot, this gives the card extra dimension, always a good thing!

I made myself a new pin cushion, using one of Maya Roads cb as a template in raw canvas. I then used one of Tim Holtz masks and some glimmer mist and then did a felt rose and cut a felt leaf and voila, I am a very happy girl!

Introducing Lucas Miguel

JULY 1st CHALLENGE is up at OUAS and it is just the perfect sketch and opportunity to introduce you to my first nephew, Lucas Miguel Rivera Vera!

He was born on July 30, 2011 to my brother and his wife, healthy, big and gorgeous!
So by meeting the sketch's criteria I will introduce him to you through Nadia's sketch.
Journalling Criteria: Who is in the photo? Name the person in the photo and at least 1 fact about them. This can be personality, character, talent , achievement etc. but it must be at least 2 sentences long

My name is Milagros C. Rivera I live in the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. I am the mom of a 15 year old son and a soon to be 7 daughter, (July the 3rd as she constantly reminds me on her special countdown). I have being married to my soul mate for 16 years. We also have a menagerie of pets, 2 guinea pigs, 1 hamster, 3 dogs and 1 cat all happily living with us. She has been with me all those years and when she started school the space felt terribly empty without her. So now I teach a group of little girls from 4 to 9 every Thursday after school. Besides having my camera with me all the time I enjoy my orchids and my baking, I am planning to start my own veggie patch.
I starterd scrapbooking when my son was born 15 years ago, there was nothing ,so his first albums are filled with hand illustrations done by me and tons of calligraphy. I remember browsing through my grandma's big scrapbooks and I knew I had to do the same for him. I stopped and when my daughter was born, boy had the scrap world had changed. I loved every second of getting inmersed in pattern papers and flowers, I still do!
I continue to scrapbook first of all because it gives me pleasure and is the perfect artsy outlet for my creativity. Then because I love seeing my kids and family go through my pages and seeing the changes year after year, sometimes even a month of change brings a big difference. For instance this week my daughter lost her 2 front teeth and now she looks so grown up...
I joke about the style, really, one time one of my friends saw a beach LO of my daughter and said it was "girly, vintage, artsy, beachy styled". I guess I created a new style! Soooo it changes and evolves, but I guess layering and sewing are almost always present in some form. I love to experiment.
A fact not known by most, my blogger avatar is me and dad when I was one! And this is my first DT!!!!!

The new challenge at OUAS is up and I am so loving this sketch by Nadya, the journaling challenge is to write at least 4 sentences on why your pictures are memorable.

Last week it was Father's day here in Puerto Rico and every so often my dad's birthday and father's day happen at once. There is a 30 year gap in between us 3

I did a wee bit more than 4 sentences and was missing the butterflies (sniff) from the sketch, but alas this is a manly page, I don't think dad would approve of the butterflies here. So, here is my version of the sketch, I had soooooo much fun cutting the dominoes and placing them like the game, for reals!!!

Quite the character he is so this page just suits him perfectly!

And onto the weekend happenings,

New collections @ Webster's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope you had a terrific Father's day weekend. I got to be with my family so I had an extra special weekend! My dad's bday is the 19th also, so we had a bigger celebration and got to play a couple of hands of Dominos with him and the kids!

I had not done an ATC in years and the girls @ CCCB had an ATC challenge, the best part they made into a SWAP, another thing I haven't done in quite a while. Soooo I got inspired and made this for my new special friend, a little something from the heart with some vintage trim and some seam binding, must of all made with a lot of heart!

Now I just found out Today is Cheryl's 50th Birthday. She is this awesome friend who always has a kind word for you, Even though I don't know her in person I love visiting her every week and I looove her comments every time she visits So I made he a special card to celebrate today!

Thank you for the feature girls!

This week a CCCB the girls are dressing up jars, so looove that concept of reusingsomething old. I thought long and hard and decided I wanted to recreate a hot air ballon. Pretty ambitious, I know, but I felt in love with a gorgeous antique French print with a balloon in it and thought I'd give it a shot! So here's my take on the dressed up jar!

I used an old glass jar and tons of Webster's!

you make each day special...the girls at the kraft journal have a guy thing theme going on. I wanted to make a father's day card since the time is closing in very soon. Sometimes I know exactly what to do, then other times I just get stuck thinking and then the light goen on! As I was looking through a set of Webster's journaling cards I read "make each day special" what a quote! I added the u and the father and voila my foundation was done. From then on it was just easy peasy, I decided to use cardabilities sketch #32 the circles just inspired me to use the beautiful clocks on the Ladies & Gents collection, some trim, pearls (yes pearls) and stitching and I am ready for Father's Day!

Then onto LO's, my God daughter's comunion, with a very special journal for her

And another one for my son's graduation using the color inspiration from The Color Room, because his graduation colors were exactly those, how fun!

Out of the box this one was done with no sketch just a color inspiration and a crazy idea in my head. This weeks color challenge at CCG is blue, red and green with the added challenge of using a hot air balloon. Remember my "Letter from Mom" page? Well I have been meaning to write a letter to my son but a doily didn't sound right...This challenge had my brains in full gear and I thought it would be fitting to scrap his recent graduation photos to write my letter in a "diploma". I even burnt the edges with fire, for reals!!! gave me a scare. Then I made holes in the page and tied his letter with some ribbon. Here is a close up:

This weeks challenge at citycrafter is to go back to basics, using cardboard and paints I created a frame ( I missed that week) to write and paint a quote to inspire! I took Ros advice to heart to gey messy and be creative!

I used a sketchabilities sketch for this one # 46.

Feeling Beautiful

Yes, I am... Once a year we plan this photo shoot, only the moms. We get together and take each other pictures and we bring the tripod so we can record ourselves. Our husbands and significant others have to take care of our children while we take care of ourselves. It is not selfish I tell you, my best friend just wrote me after seeing the photos of my oldest graduation. She said: they are great but you are in only one photo, and so it goes for 364 days, almost never a picture of me.
This weeks challenge at Once upon a Sketch is to document about a female so here it is, me,
I did a lot of work on this one, I transferred an antique French frame from graphicsfairy to canvas and then I hand painted the blooms and leaves, very shabby, punched papers, used my sewing machine, lace, punched leaves...you get the idea

Here is my entry for this week at Color Combos Galore, almost missed it I have been so busy, and itching to scrap, but it is finally done, with hours to spare, I love to see their counter...Once a year we have this beautiful summer bulb, the translation from the name in Spanish is "Ball of fire". It always blooms for her birthay in July, it has been raining so much here in PR that it decided to open right away in May, mixed feelings about that...Their challenge, besides the color was to use numbers, can you tell she is 6?

Tu Fe "Your Faith"

Just a note, to my shockness, this LO was picked as a featured work by the lovely team of OUAS, I get to be in their banner this week, sooooooo happy!!!!!!

This past Sunday was my God Daughter's comunion. We went to chrurch to share that special moment with her. My little one was very into it as she is taking catecism every Friday @ church. So this was a special moment for her faith, hence the tittle.
The May 15th challenge over @ Once upon a sketch is a beautiful sketch by
Nadia and the special request was something I never do:Journalling criteria: Your journalling should be typed (and remember it should be at least 1-2 lines long).
not the long part, I manage to write more than a couple of lines all the time.
The challenge was the "typed" part.

this is the result, I have to say I feel so PROUD, it looks so polished, I can not believe I was able to pull it through. Should have put all the process into pictures, because I did it after cutting the doily from the PP paper, LOL.

Of course I then went ahead and did a bunch of stamping to further embellish the typed journaling.

Here is the finished LO I think it looks a lot like the sketch.

This was a lot of fun, now go over and give it a go at the challenge!

I was working on some machine stitches whan I realized I used 3 doillies instead of one. I decided to change the direction of the LO and write a heartfelt letter to my daughter. Tucked inside those pages is something for herto read later on, in the meantime it has been sealed with a kiss from mama! I transferred the photo to canvas to work with the dreamy effect the Butterfly collection papers from Pink Paislee .

My goodness, thanks to Ross I can recover what Blogger lost, Happy Friday the 13th everybody! I made 2 LO's for the By the sea Challenge at CCCB, here they are, with the water in all its glory, turquoise, perfect Dive In...Gilligan's Island southwest of Guanica, PR

Now a second version of the same glorious day, here we are celebrating our free time on spring break!

And I kept thinking about the buttons and bows challenge over @ the kraft journal and I remember last year I made a senior prom dress, so I wanted to make a little girl's dress this time. full with ruffles, tiny mother of pearl buttons and a gross grain bow, so fun creating on paper!

I used layer upon layer of punched edges to make the ruffles

Now on the original post I had included other images, I will repost them later, have an awesome weekend!

Mom. And I had the pleasure of knowing the name of my soon to be born nephew.

Here is a card I made for the Kraft Journal, you know how I love Kraft and I wanted to give something to my daughter's teacher today!

Now brace yourself, this one is long!!!!

Now here is a box my mom made for me, besides doing the box you have to take a peek at what she put inside...

She learned to make this stitching, she so wanted to learn for a while now. This beauty just takes my breath away. Making an inch takes her more than an hour...

And so you can appreciate the kind of detail mom puts in her work, I used the macro to show you: Imagine yourself first making the color combo, making the design and then picking each delica sized bead in a needle, one by one, mom I am so honored you have entrusted me with this treasure!

And of course, she knows me I had to put it on TODAY, this is something she knows me for , impatience, LOL

it feels very good, I may not take it off....

Now this was on the newspaper Saturday at El Nuevo Dia, I know I haven't shared the pictures yet, but
i was saving them for the newspaper to show them first. I promise I will give you all the close ups later on.

And here is my new nephew, seen through my lens, I can't wait for him to be in my arms, just 8 more weeks...

Happy Mother's Day

yep, it is upon us, this Sunday we will be giving honor to all those mamas that are significant to all of us, the ones that make us who we are today! Mami te quiero mucho!!!!!
I made another present container inspired by a box I saw At Victoria's Secret to hold gift cards, it had so many intricate folds I needed to make one. I used Fancy Pants, It's the little things paper, it is a pretty damask, in a vintage color that looks so elegant. I paired with guess what? PINK what can I do there is pink in my life...Then I made a lunch bag Kraft stock tag with the sweetest Prima stamp, the girl holding the bunch of flowers, it reminds me of the bows my mom used to make and put in my head, my unruly blonde curls, and the fancy dress with the petticoat underneath. I attached with with some girls paperie twine in pink, LOL so I hope this brings some inspiration I made it for the Kraft Journal.

Here is the final tag I used the new Jenni Bowlin chipboard and covered it with lunch bag Kraft, used some Girls Paperie paper, flower, double satin ribbon and twine to write mama.

I had the privilege of looking at this upclose it is a Brownea grandiceps or Rose of Venezuela in my moms garden

Yesterday we found a plastic bag with a mama coqui protecting a nest of eggs and babies. This frog is endemic to our island of Puerto Rico, and the name comes from the sound it makes. It is incredible how nature will always find a way! and the garden snail shell will give you a clue about the size of this very small frog.

This property is an old sugar plantation in the north side of the island, Hacienda La Esperanza, it is one of those places rich in history that you need to see

this just appened to be on the restaurant we had lunch, they were expecting a wedding party, I just would dream of marrying here!

Today was a glorious day, for the past 4 years we have been going to an annual kite flying day @ Las Croabas beach in Fajardo. It is organized by my DD school teachers. Today was just so pretty, you be the judge

Weaver for a day...

Last night I was waching the Amazing Race, they were in India and I saw this old ladies, basket weaving. They were sitting at the edge of the Ganges river, dressed up in their beautiful fashion, just bending their twigs. What an amazing sight. As I was looking my emails this morning saw Audrey's kraftjournal entry. Their challenge is called Bunnies, Baskets or Babies. I remembered them working and decided to give it a try with some Kraft cardstock. I took some pics of the process to help you along, just in case you want to be a weaver too...

the pieces are 7 inches long, once you weave (up and down) your center tighten it up and bend upwards

here's a closer look

then continue to weave around your base to make the sides

to secure the top, fold with a wee bit of glue in alternate fashion, one to the inside one to the outside

now you need a handle and a decorative edge, so I cut my Kraft paper thinner and used the tiny attacher to secure the ends and braided my paper

and here's the basket all dolled up with tulle, paper blooms, grass and bird...please double click and magnify to see the Kraft "tendrils" alongside the blooms!

This little bunny is in process, he started off Kraft colored and he is coming along, more on him in a future post, as I am drawing and painting away. If you give it a try keep me posted on your creations!

Feliz Pascua / Happy Easter

Happy Easter, there is some spring cleaning at the thekraftjournal and I wanted to play. Initially I wanted to create a wash line, with the clothes hanging in the breeze and then I saw the colors at the shabby tearoom and remembered loving the Kraft with the pastels. And ever since I saw that image with the eggs covered in thread at Martha Stewart I wanted to try a hand at it. Entering it at the Easter challenge at the pink elephant and box challenge at lollipopcrafts.

I cut my chipboard piece 12 x 3 inches, if you staple the ends together, you will be able to bend it at will to create you shape.

You need to cut your ends as if you were cutting fabric, cut in angles and bend upward

here are your finished pieces, height for the cover is 2 inches, you need to cut your Kraft paper to 3x12 and 2 x12 to be able to cover the chipboard.

Esta mañana desperté a mi periódico sabatino, EL Nuevo Dia, con la sorpresa del articulo del taller de hoy en la tienda. El reportero, Antolin Maldonado Rios, no lo sabe pero lleva dentro de el un scrapbooker!!! Miren el LO que compuso en el periódico, pura poesia en ditribución de fotos y escrito.

My bestest friend has awesome news to celebrate, she just told me and I am so happy for them, in honor of that I sat down to craft. The girls at ccb are doing a celebrate good times challenge so appropriate for my theme. The girls @ theshabbytearoom have this beautiful inspirational photo, just look at those colors! Wonderful Audrey did a beautiful flower, and then posted her tutorial at thekraftjournal being a huge fan of kraft myself I decided to give it a try, their challenge this month is flowers. I used a 1 inch circle punch so my bloom is smaller. As I was making my sons bday invitations yesterday using this great Kraft bag envelopes I decided to make my card a pocket to put something to give away. I stamped with Teresa Collins scripture the Kraft circles for the back petals and used Girls Paperie blooms and bling button for the topper. Making Memories banner stamp was used for the top banner along with some sequins and my handwriting! Don't you just love how well Kraft goes with pastels. Now go visit everyone on the list and thanks for visiting me!

I have to wait one whole year for this to happen, this is one fragrant orchid!

I was having a blast playing with my watercolors and discovered that I got a second set of them by pure chance, as the brushstrokes gave me a pretty silhoutte underneath. I also wanted to play with this Prima beads and I cut them apart to play with them. These are the photos from my previous post, those blooms are so pretty they deserved a page of their own.

These tiny alphas are the cutest!

Remember the pretty pictures of Miss M, well the day I went to pick them up, the lab tech had blown one out of proportions, see her way up there on the wall!

An Angel Sings, isn't that the most beautiful stamp, Crafty Secrets at its best! Anywhooo I was thinking this morning how good and bad sketches can be, you get so used to them you forget to think on your own. So this card comes from the heart, no sketches just challenges. You see I am going to be an aunt, I can't wait until I have the little one in my arms to hold, hug, kiss and so I am gettting ready doing samples for him. So this week it was Babies, buttons and bows, such wonderful 3 B's @ CCB and Bingo play @ TSTR and monochromatic at CCC here's my card in the 3 B's and in the brads/buttons/die cuts category

And I wanted to share some pics of my garden this morning, the azaleas are blooming and
I just love them so...plus it's a good excuse to get some pink on the blog, LOL!!!

Kirsty made this cool sketch @ pixiedustpaperie and I couldn't resist playing. I don't know about you but I have been fascinated by the moon ever since I was a little girl. Ask my friends, I was screaming every time it showed up this past Saturday! I do hope you made some time to stare at the sky this past Saturday when the moon was rising, OMG it was so big, majestic and beautiful. Anywhooo I had this pictures that needed to be in a LO STAT, so I named it after me, a confessed moon groupy!!!

TCR is working on its 50th palette such beautiful monochromatic blues...
Miss M let me take some pics and I feel so bad the LO didn't photograph as white as it actually is, I have to learn so much from the editing process. I was also inspired by one of their DT's into using denim, she used it as a background, the full piece, oh my so beautiful, since I love flowers so much I decided to rip my DH's jeans and create some flowers to put on the page. Before working the piece I had a photo shoot with her and I had so much eye candy it wasn't even funny, I guess I will be scrapbooking forever from her pictures. Then I sent them to the lab to print and when I went to pick them up the photo lab tech had blown one of them to poster size to put on their place! Now I have to go back and take a pic of the place to show you, LOL, here's the one she blew out of normal proportions

and here is some more I wanted to work with

Cheryl posted a new challenge today at citycrafter, working out a spring fling, ahhh the beauty of the colors, she challenged us to work with pink, blue, green and cream. I also added some lavender because it looked so delish....some pearls for the cream, some mist for the blue, a rose for the pink and green for the title and butterfly.

This quick Valentine's card was inspired by the use of glitter over @ the Citycrafters blog where the girls are playing with all that glitters!

Then the girls @ the shabby tearoom are keeping warm and I was inspired by the hues and by who keeps me warm, who is also getting the card above, LOL

And this will help keep you warm, just a thing I whipped this morning for my neighbor, who is a sweet girl that's always there when I need her, thanks Awi! This of course would be what I would make to my DH if he were a chocolate person...Made with Pure 85% cocoa by Godiva, yum!

This card was made using the sketch from City Crafters, I wanted to play with reds and pinks!

More houses....what can I say, this one is a little swiss cottage, go to the next post to see the other one. The pattern and design for this one is all mine, I guess there are more comig in this little brain o'mine, balcony and all!

And then there is this brave little girl, who had her hair cut yesterday to donate to Locks of Love.org. A full 12 inches came out of her glorious hair, I am so proud of her .

Isn't she pretty, doing such good deeds at such an early age!

What a great way to begin 2011 and wake up this sleepy blog. We had the most wonderful time at Chritmas, 3 Kings and now the Octavitas, we even had the pleasure of receiving a Paranda, the puertorricans version of Christmas carolers but full blast latin rhytms!
I made a card for the girls @ the shabbytearoom they have a sketch for a change and here is my sweet version,

I was taking down the Chritmas decorations and felt so sad I had no houses...well one needed to fill the empty spot and so my hands went down to work, this one uses one of the Victoria templates for some of it, some of it is my own. It sits a top a working box I fancied out of a sad piece of chipboard, that is now very, very happy!

And this year is going to be filled with layouts, and photos, I vow to that! Here is my sweetheart posing for mama!
