Unforgettable

Hi everyone! It's been a while since I'd played @ OUAS .  Their theme this month is "I'll never forget". This past Sunday was my DH birthday and he wanted to spend it with us and he had signed to race the 5KColor and needed some cheerleaders too (and a paparazzi to follow his every move).  And we were very happy to obligue.  This year run in Puerto Rico was supporting the breast cancer foundation, a very close fight for us.  It was a fun event and the pictures speak for themselves!!!

even a bunch of dogs ran and got their medals too, I loved this one because he showed his true colors!!

the pigment they use is cornstarch based and hand made in India, it reminded me so much of my friend Anupama! It has a story in the back about a festival of colors they celebrate in India called HOLI. 

 

 

oh I forgot to tell you about the new washis by WeR Memory Keepers, this page was done using 12x12 and 6x6 washi papers, cool, isn't it?

Wonder

is our prompt word this week at Our Beautiful World I wonder what my good friend Shahrul is up to? She always does the most inspiring posts...

Well her prompt made me think about these trees that grow in my mom's gardens. 

They have a canopy that kind of hugs her driveway and give the most awesome shade

they are also her natural orchid greenhouse and to top it all they are a hummingbird magnet.

I don't know the name of the tree but I love the flower buds so much...

I took this photo using a macro lens, they are so intriguing I wonder how they fit inside the bud and how they unruffle to produce a perfect fan when opened.

Yes I had to own one of those trees, they remind me of my childhood, my mom and they provide food to many happy visitors in my garden every day!

Summer

This months PPP over at Prima is sooo yummy I decided to do a summer book of quotes.

 It is a "junk journal"  I have been dying to make one of those after seeing them popping all over the bloggy world, like the one my friends Shahrul and Wendy have done.

It's a recycled one, I always save the Prima packaging, I think they do a terrific job.  I also wanted to continue with Mou's challenge at Design Memory Craft

So I made you all a little tutorial

 

 

I made them big so click on them to see the full instructions

gather your supplies, make evenly spaced holes on your chipboard

 start by applying gelato to your canvas pieces and then water them down

I loved the way this palette had a flow to it

 Time to paint your ribbon and your canvas pieces

First page, after doing the title work I used my PITT markers to fill the letters and do the outlines

Home is

Where my heart lives {amongst a polka dot sky }.

Well today was a fun day for me, summer vacation is almost over since it's always summer

 in Puerto Rico, I can not say summer is over...

I have been taking care of my daughter and two of her friends and I was looking for a cool project that we could do together.  So I decided on a piece of canvas they could do to decorate their room.  I started with a Donna Downey piece of printed canvas and an iron on tree.  I can happily say SHE introduced me to gelatos!!! They were a dream in my hand I could not get enough of those little chapstick shaped babies!!! Finally they arrived at my doorstep, a full set for me to enjoy and I have been happily playing ever since!

After that I drew a rustic house and my words got all wrapped up in a kite's string;)

they crossed my "t" and went down to lives, hugging the tree

I had a "Monet" moment, LOL, I was going for the impressinist movement with my artsy flowers in the fields!!!!  They look the part...

I just love I could paint a polka dot sky, for that I used the Art Grip Aquarelle # 143, using a dot mask

they matched the polka dot leaves in the tree perfectly!

after writing my words in pencil I used a PITT big brush marker in black and a red one

 for the ♥ word.

I used gesso and a stencil for the roof and the finger for the clouds

the words got filled with 2 different gelatos a metallic and a flat one, I can totally see the shine there

and loved it so much I framed it and hung it on my wall

It's such a cute summer cottage!

Hi everyone, it took me a whole week to do something, geez I did not blog for a whole week!!!!

Well August is up we have a new challenge at Our Beautiful World

and there are plenty of awesome month long challenges all over our bloggy world, it's a happy day!

As I always do I have combined 2 in one, the sketch over at

scrapfriends.  They always manage to put a smile on my face with their awesome sketches and the color palette at CSI

soooo happy!!!

I also ♥ the awesome wood travel embellies from Prima, swoon... I stamped the suitcase, so hard to say" ciao" to Italy...

Papers are from Simple Stories, their travel lines, labels from Crate Paper and stamps from Fiskars and an Italian set and of course some Tim Holtz goodies for good measure ♥

Hi everyone it's a brand new month and a new challenge over at Our Beautiful World

So what does Ausgust means to you, it is our word prompt for the week?

To us here in Puerto Rico means BACK TO SCHOOL, yep it is not Septemeber but August that marks our students calendar ad means vacations are over.

You can see moms everywhere finishing their back to school shopping, me included, since sometimes I wait till the last minute for some shopping...

here are some needed supplies, that lookedtotally cool in a photograph all happy together, sooo colorful

And here I am sharing a notebook I made as a request by the Editor of the magazine Papeles y Mas

for their back to school edition.  Happy to say it was featured at Prima this month!!!!
