Time passing OBW

Hi everybody, I have been MIA...after CHA I have been trying really hard to catch up on family time, work and so on and so forth so my blog has been neglected to say the least... I hope you had time to visit Our Beautiful World last week as the entries were all so nice for my word shadow, thanks to all that make this posisible!  This weeks word is brought to us by Bonita and it's passing time.
For Christmas my son got a yoyo, turns out it was a special one with lights on it and that my husband was {surprise} a whiz with it.  So after watching him play for quite some time I went to pick up the camera and started shooting.  I just loved the whole set, really hard to pick a fave they were so nice!

I do hope you have enjoyed them as much as I did and hopefully I will be full blown into this blogging life of mine, hugs

Shadows

I am your host this week at Our Beautiful World and my prompt for you is shadows .
this is a mobile photo from our phone, we were standing on the boardwalk watching the waves crash at our local beach "La Pared" a famous hang out for surfers.  There's the four of us!
I love it when I am able to get that perspective and see us in a different light!
Can't wait to see what the word means to you in your part of the world!
Hugs!

January

Ever since I can remember in my married life we have spent the Fisrt of January at an annual party for the Country Club my Father in Law belongs.  They meet to celebrate the New year and bring all that is customary as a local tradition in Christmas at the island.  They make not one but 2 of these guys
they are roasted in a pit fire for hours and hours and they are so delicious!  They literally tear the skin to eat it since it is sp crunchy and flavorful once it's roasted.
then there's this
can you see behind them my son and DH, that is fried heaven my friends!!! they make this fritters out of cod called "bacalaitos" and grated root vegetables stuffed with either crab or meat called "alcapurrias" and there's no way you can eat just one!
but this is the best part of my January, beginning the year with the ones I love !
Cheers to a brand new 2014

Tomorrow January 6 is our celebration of the epiphany or the Three Kings, It is also a big Holiday, like Christmas.  Tonight the kids around the island will fill up a shoe box with grass for the camels.  They will put it under their bed so that when the Three Kings come their camels can be fed.  The next morning they will have toys in their boxes and hopefully the camels won't leave behind a whole lot of grass for parents to clean up ;)
It is one beautiful tradition and almost the end of Christmas for us!

Sweetheart, I love you

My dear friend Lizzy Hill has made her first sketch!!! I just couldn't resist joining in and paying homage to the wonderful sketch!  I don't know if you have been experiencing lately the Google + photos and Auto awesome photos but I tell you I am in love with seeing their editing.  Anywhooo they just gave me this 4 picture collage of some photos I never took...The story is that my son took my camera and then went outside to take pictures of his sister.  So although these are quite old I had never scrapped them before and I have Google to thank for bringing them to my attention they are funny and delightful want to see?

there's a couple of brand new things here, like Echo Parks new I love Candy collection and Crate Paper's Love Notes.  since I don't have any Purple Pumpkin buttons I am using Studio Calico, Lizzy you said it was OK... I just love the stamped and embossed Matryoshka by Kaisercraft!

see what I mean about the pics? deeelightful!

I used hearts instead of stars with some yummy Inka gold

and an ancient Crate Paper piece of chippie
I hope you feel inspired and join my dear Lizzy at Purple Pumpkin this month!
take a peek at how clever and cool

Big Hugs

"1,2,3"

It's a brand new year and a brand new challenge! For the Kraft it up January challenge you have to work with a fabulous Page Maps sketch and you need to incorporate washi tape,  a summers themed photo and a number.  It is summer down under as well as in Puerto Rico, so it was easy to come up with some yummy ocean pics for my page!
This is my daughter's first dive ever at Gilligan's.  We have been coming to this cay for 4 years now and this was her first attempt to go into the water from the mangrove trees.  I have to tell you it's scary up there as I tried it several years ago, I even titled my page "chicken at the top" as I was almost too scared to jump.  I am so glad she did it and is not afraid anymore, because once you do it once you just want to climb and jump again and again, the water is crystal clear and you can even see the fish swimming by from the trees.

for my numbers I went with gessoed 1 and 3 and wood veneer for number 2

here we go off in the air # 1
some cool stitching using an Amy Tangerine stencil and embroidery floss

#2 closer to the water

and # 3 a perfect splash!

all tied up together with a twine bow and some TC washi tape
here's the sketch

JANUARY CHALLENGE
This month your challenge is to create a layout based on the attached sketch and the following:
