Let's visit El Yunque

Hi everyone, again, a very inspired Monday I tell you...

this beautiful cup of tea at scrapfriends sure has me inspired
My sons Boy Scout troop is in charge of one of the trails at El Yunque National Forest and they mantain it once a month.  After leaving him there I took some time to photograph, it was a beautiful summer morning and with all the rain lately the waterfalls were nothing short of spectacular!

Believe me when I tell you I didn't want to go to work...
I loved that bit of PP paper with the "let's visit" quote so I used it as my starting point
 for my title work
Gorillas in the mist!!! the mountains were capped with a beautiful veil of fog!
I fuzzy cut that hand as we must protect our beautiful forests wherever they are for the future generations! I also fuzzy cut the paper to create a lace paper!
can you spot the bird? I found him by listening to his singing!

beautiful, gigantic tree ferns....

I used an envelope to contain my journaling and a 25 cents coin made in honor of our forest!!
El Yunque America the Beautiful QuarterIn the coin you can see Puerto Rico's Amazona  vittata the puertorrican parrot to your right and to your left our endemic coqui  Eleutherodactylus portoricensis a tiny frog that sings at night co-keee
Coquí comúnIf you click on the frog there's a link that will take you to coquiPR.com and there is a recording so you can actually listen to it!

So perfect for the contain it challenge at Webster's.  I used this sketch as a starting point.

Thanks for stopping by and visiting the forest with me!!!!

Happy Birthday

Happy Monday everyone, it's still cloudy in paradise :(
not a sunny day in sight and it's starting to get into me, it's suposed to be summer you know!
I am playing today with this sketch from Cardabilities and the neon colors from
lets get trendy now.  Since I was going to use neon I wanted small doses and their clean sketch was perfect to use the neon washi tapes Heidi Swapp made a while ago.
I accentuated it with a Webster's sequin dot and some neon thread in hot pink
the sentiment is Kaisercraft, perfect for a little girl who's going to be nine in a couple more days!!!
and the mat is her favorite hue of green

I couldn'r resist cutting a corner in hot orange for neon's sake, LOL
here's the super sketch Karan made

so that make's the fifth  and last challenge at LGTN!!!!!
here are all five entries
neon, stitching, textured layers,
sequins and handmade embellishments!

Thanks so much for stopping by, I sure love the company!

I wanted to work the stitching challenge @ lets get trendy now
I used this weeks palette at CSI they fit my photos so well.  Last Sunday we went to visit my mom and pretty close to her house is this open fruit market.  One of those places that stand the test of time and where you are sure to find locally grown vegetables and fruits, yummy!

I worked some layers and textures

I penciled my circles and went over them with my piercer, then I backstitch some yellow twine for more interest to frame both photos .

I also did some more fuzzy cutting on the Webster's ;)
Here she is asking dad a ton of questions, Miss Curiosity in the flesh

I fuzzy cut some numebrs to add in terest to my title, it is the actual date!
here's the palette & sketch
I flipped the sketch to suit my needs, since I had a vertical photo
hope you get to play and go ck out the stitching challenge @ Get Trendy!!!

Hugs,

Curiosity

This little girls is so full of curiosity and will stop at nothing, she will pick a snail, a snake, a frog, you can find her school bag filled with rocks she collects as she walks, So she is in my case with endless questions all the time, LOL!!!
I am playing today with the sequin challenge @ letsget trendy now and using the CSI colors # 75

For my scheme I used all 5 colors, I have been patiently waiting for the sun to come out to be able to photograph...

For my evidence I used chevrons, painted using a mask with gold as a base in my LO

sequin touches of gold everywhere,

my title strung in a banner
and for my testimony I chose to pop question #18, with the answer as my title curiosity,
loved that page of prompts!

flowers and gold sequins

wood and more sequins, tying the banner up...

sequins adding pops of brightness in your page!
I hope you get inspired to play, sequins are so much fun!

the sun loves u

The TCR palette #152 is so beautifully sunny and bright I couldn't help but play I also decided to play with the textured layers at lets get trendy. This recent photo of MissM shows just how the sun is loving her skin.  Unlike her mamma this girl tans beautifully.  It's summer here and she is out and about playing and having fun in the sun and it shows!
I used doilys, several layers of them, sine they were hand cut they don't add a lot of bulk.
I spent several hours fuzzy cutting here, and the results are so worth it I decided to also layer them up on top of each other!
Webster's Citrus Squeeze blends beautifully with Modern Romance.

This cameo was the perfect finishing touch, so feminine

I love how the flowers match her cheeks!

a peek at the paste, with a bit of tinted ink a perfect , subtle way to add a texture layer without a lot of bulk!

yep the sun totally loves this girl!
here's the palette
Picture It was wonderful to have you here have an awesome weekend, wherever you are, it sure has been an exciting week for me! Hugs,

I love you

Hi everyone, it's almost Father's day and I have a very special one in my life.
The father of my children he is a devoted dad and they love him dearly, since I don't think he will be taking a peek at my blog anytime soon I am sharing what I prepared for him!
I have combined the challenge at CCCB
with the palette 244 at Color Combos Galore and letsgettrendy handmade embellishments challenge.
The in the navy palette worked so well with what I wanted

I started recycling a wooden crate, I purchased some italian olive oil and saved the crate
it is roomy enough for me to put a lot of goodies inside!

I then measured and cut this nautical inspired paper by Fancy Pants, so masculine!

and then I used a quatrefoil stencil for the acrylic cover, that way
it won't be so easy for him to peek at his gift ;)

close up of the tag I made for him! I combined several lines, Crate Paper base tag layered a circle by Webster's, over a Chevron scallop by MME a top a Spellbinders anchor die cut.  The sentiment is an xacto cut from a Webster;s pages and the "striped ribbon" is a piece of another CP line.
I just love the texture of the back
and here's a photo of him with our DD on a modeling photo shoot for Father's day

Happy Father's Day with your loved ones this weekend!!!
Hugs,

Friends Hanging in the shade a Citrus Squeeze LO

Friends hanging in the shade together...well this could not have been more appropiate, LOL
The new line of Citrus Squeeze at Webster's is glorious.
I am so thrilled to have the banner of the week at their ning site this week!!!
I was smitten with it the second the paper touched my hands, I just wanted to cut and play
I decided to submit it to the color challenge over at lifepaperscrapbook
here's the summery palette
so lovely

layers and layers

I cut the little birdie. then transformed its wing and then gave it a song
I just love the way Webster's transformed it in their banner
inspireME
I was so thrilled to see it!!!
This sweet photo of the girls was taken by my friend Judelly, they were literally hanging in the shade, playing with the blooms from the tree

The alphas in the paper are sooo divine, their quatrefoil design is so classic and the font is so pretty.
I combined it with some Webster's trim a perfect Christmas red and an orange Prima bloom with a touch of soft pink.  Love how vibrant and girlie this collection is!
Well thanks for stopping by!

Star Witness

Forgot to share this with you!
This is what they had to say
"Milagros's beautiful layout caught our attention. We thought the pops of vibrant color against the gray background and black and white photos were absolutely striking. We loved reading all the details about Milagros's home. She not only wrote details about the home itself but the memories made in her lovely home. Thank you for sharing this peek into your home, Milagros, and we love how your embellishments help to tell your story!"
Thanks to the team at CSI

Current Issue
So onto new things, I have been inspired by the sketch over at Scrapfriends
They create the most amazing sketches and I just love their challenges
I used the palette at CSI to work this photos of my DD at a flower market in NYC
I loved creating the textural background

I used Gelatos and Dylusions for my watercolors
the metal chain is a ruffled tulle ribbon from Webster's I just adore the look!

You can spot some new Primas here since part of the challenge was to use flowers

My signature way of documenting a page, a written swirl, taking about how much she loved the big city.  This was a long awaited trip a milestone of sorts to visit NY.

I used the bike tires inspiration for my black circles framing the photos

Here's the full page, sketch and color inspiration
Thanks so much for stopping by!!!
