Life

Hi everyone, so sorry about the long absence, there was some family illness and I could not sit down to post the way I wanted.  After this long hiatus brace yourself because this will be post # 1 of the day and more is on the way.
It's been a long time since I last played at OUAS so I decided to stop by their blog and see the new sketch and see where my inspiration would take me.
This quote is the inspiration this month
great life quote.
so, so perfect for me, love the sentiment behind this, and being I carry my camera with me at all times it is something I could very much relate too.
I decided to use Life as the title and then I wrote the complete quote behind the negative film strip
One of my favorite ways to journal is to draw swirls in my page and then follow the line and write around them

Gotta love that dancing little one from Webster's!

I also layered around my photo with some tulle, from the Once upon a Halloween collection
Unreal that it is beyond cute!!! with a gold trim at the end

And here is the full view, I have to say doing the sketch got my cretive juices flowing and I loooved the end result

Thanks so much for visiting, you always make my day!

Limited Edition 1/1 2012 Edition

Hi Everyone can you imagine my surprise when I saw this picture over at The Shabby Tearoom?
If you know me you know that even my store is chartreuse and hot pink!!!! My most FAVE colors in the world....
and the challenge:
work with green, pink and flowers...
soooo me, right?
Well Kaisercraft made this gorgeous collection for their 2012 release called Mint Twist
irresistibly gorgeous, the colors scream my name all the way from Australia to Puerto Rico!
and so I worked this up for the challenge
If you know a bit about me you know how I love nutcrackers, I already started my 2012 wishlist
This year my best friend Myriam found me a wooden soldier, last year I did a king
For this years version I decided to enamel the eyes, so they are a shade of blue
I used Ranger enamels in black and white and nail enamel in "candy peppermint" shade (looove the name!!!!)

I blinged his sword...couldn't help myself and did it in pink of course!

top view of the hat, the paints are acrylic metallic silver by Kaisercraftcolour, pearl white by Martha Stewart and citrus green by Deco Art.  The cheeks are liquid pearls by Ranger and glitter by Doodlebug.  The mouth is Red wagon acrylic paint by Making memories with the Ranger white enamel.

Profile view, flower by Prima

I used the paper pad from Mint Twist and the Bling is  by Websters.
Hope you have enjoyed him as much as I did creating him!!!!
Big creative hugs to you

PS     Thanks so much for the
Honorable Mention!!

Unique

It is mid month already and time for a "for the boys" Challenge over at Colorful Creations
I have chosen a very masculine palette and my challenge is to create a title
out of a scrap of paper, in my case I used a bingo card from
a Simple Stories paper for "unique" that's how he is! And to use a recycled item in my case I used a Prima packaging.
of course he is like me blinded by the sun!

I did some gesso work on my background with the gears mask.
Remember my other challenge is still running
head over to CC to view and play and here's my page
Enjoy the weekend everyone!!!

Discovered

Hi Everyone!!! It's time for our mid month challenge over at sketchers
and this time I have decided to photograph every step of the way

This week I started working on a LO that got featured at TCR it was about my daughter using her brother's car, 8 years later and a little too late.
Well I thought it needed bigger pictures, maybe a second page
and it got me thinking I could link the 2 together, so I used the same palette and stamp.
Here's the begining of the background using a chevron stamp by Jenni Bowlin.
Don't worry too much about it being perfect as you will cover most of it later on.

I then used a pippette to splatter some ink

I have to say this is the fun part, you never know what result you are going to get!!!

lovely mess...

photos scattered according to sketch

dressed in goodies and well documented

I hope you have enjoyed my process!
Have a beautiful weekend and I will be looking forward to your entries to see what you come up with
Hugs

Fantasia

Hi everyone!!! Hope you  had a beautiful weekend, I started this week with plenty of inspiration
my daughter had a recent photo shoot and it was inspired by fairies, hence the tittle fantasia.
Iris Bermudez is the photographer of this gorgeous photo of my daughter
The page is inspired by this week sketch over at skissedilla

love the mixed media feel of this and this is my interpretation

I scrunged some crepe paper and then gessoed a Prima mask
worked some twine around my photo and some beaded pearls

the little pearl nest is just the perfect frame for that gorgeous face
she is just growing too fast...

and I just looove that beaded Prima leaf...
Here's the photo as Iris posted it on Facebook

I also wanted to share a sneaky peek
of my entry at The Color Room

See you as the week goes by, the title for this LO is a story about my little one finding this car that belonged to her big brother a little too late, as you can see she barely fit in it!

Nutcracker Sweet

Hi Everyone!!! I hope this weekend has been a blast today is the Design Team's reveal of the new sketch at sketchesforyou2.  This is what we had to work with

I had immediate visions of a beautiful bow on a present,  and what a better time to give than Christmas
Well as you may know I love nutcrackers and Christmas and so I decided to incorporate
my 2012 wishlist for nutcrackers in my page.
The photos are of the brand new release by Kurt Adlers collection of pastel painted beauties.
I started collecting way back when my son was born, it was a boy thing that evolved the moment my daughter was born.  Now I needed girly painted ones... so here it is what I did
the cake and the cupcake...

the bow is totally functional, just wanted you to see the dimension I gave it

the title is wet embossed from the new Graphic 45 Nutcracker collection
I have the stamps but I am still waiting for the paper

I made some paper feathers to give it more dimension, I have to confess
I thought about doing a paper feather wreath...
maybe I will later on

So I hope you enjoyed my interpretation as much as I loved making it!
I would love to see your visions of the sketch so please don't forget to upload to the blog's gallery on the link above!!!

A new Love, Case File No.35

Hi everyone! Today marks the 35th case file over at CSI, and amazing palette awaits your creativity this week as they are finishing their "Down by the Sea" theme for the month of August.
I have to tell you after seeing the palette's reveal how inspired I was by the images in the inspiration photograph.  So many beautiful details to grasp and be inspired by...
I hope you get the same vibe and go work on it!
There was a necklace that just put my brain to work immediately, it was my inspiration along with a palm frond that was sneaking by the right hand side.
I decided I wanted to replicate the look of the palm tree and since they abound so much here in my precious island I knew the real thing was easily found to look up close.
I then drew on my paper and started cutting.  This was almost a month ago when I was clueless it would become an instant trend and even has a name "paper feathers".
Well now you know where my inspiration came from and it was something I couldn't reveal until today.
Now continuing on the inspiration from the necklace, there was also a little heart tucked into the picture, that I used as the "charm" of my so called necklace

This heart used to be the charm of a necklace I owned done in coconut by a local artisan.
I had saved it forever and saw it fit to reuse it as part of my page.
More wood is found on the frames and bow by Crate Paper

I hope you can see a wee bit of the shadow created by the palm leaves, it looks like the real thing I tell ya!
And here's the full page! I hope it inspires you in one way or the other!

I wanted to thank Debbi and the fabulous DT at CSI for having me this month
as a Special Investigator, love working on the challenges!!!
Hope your weekend is a blast!!!

love you

Hi everyone!
I am resuming my regular posts, hopefully pretty soon back to normal, today I was inspired by a sketch over at skissedilla, you can click on the link to go there.
Nabon drew this gorgeous sketch and I had these 2 photos of my little one
at the beach.  The thing is the day they developed the pics it looked so retro
like an old polaroid and I didn't wanted to scrap them.
When I saw the sketch it was an instanti click, I used a paper by MME that had sort of the old polaroid shapes and hand cut to to create the frames to fit the sketch.

Then I pulled out ad old mask by Prima that had a circle of blooms and I gessoed
my background for the flowery effect
I decided the zipper pull had the perfect title "Love You"

As you can see the background was done with the mask and gesso
And here is the full version!!!
loved playing with the mixed media and the washi tape and now I am very happy with my old looking photos in their new polaroid casing!
Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Toro Verde

Hi everyone! Can't believe 10 days have passed since my last post, well we were dodging a Tropical Storm now turned Hurricane, Mr Isaac, to be precise.  So no posting and no scrapping for me.
Since, besides the gloomy weather, we are back to normal, I started scrappin again.
As you can tell by the new blinkie I made the Sketchers Design Team!!!
Couln't be more excited for I have loved their site since the start.
Here's my interpretation of their new sketch but I want you to pay attention to your calendars as we will now be hosting a bi monthly challenge on the 1st and the 15th!
here's the sketch

I wanted to document a recent rip my son did with his uncle to Toro Verde
They boast the longest zipline run in the world a mere 1.446km long!
here's my take
Here's my take on this weeks Guest DT sketch
over at Colorful Creations, just follow the link and make some time to participate!

loved the stitching provided on the sketch and decided to use a rub on for a faux stitch effect!
Now how about the lovely blue, well turquoise of the Caribbean sea!!!
We had the most fabulous day among the best of friends and we all brought our families.
We were welcomed by a school of jelly fish, they were purple and huge.  What we didn't know is they travel the currents of the storms...So Isaac was on its way a few days short of our trip

I will share more later!
Hugs

Calm

Hi everyone, it's time for a new color palette at CSI!
and this one is an absolute stunner

and since I am a Special Investigator here's my framed piece
I certainly get a kick out of this!!! LOVE it!

here are some close ups of my work, the stars are sequined beauties made by Harmonie
I switched the pink centers for pearls to go with the palette
the extra stars from my punch were scattered around the page

here's a close up of my journaling documenting our trip to Culebra to snorkel among sea turtles, so magical and so special!!
Now I wanted to tell you about my net, it is a circular piece that is found in butcheries to wrap meat before baking, oh well I am resourceful. My mother brought it for me from a butcher in North Carolina since it is not sold here in Puerto Rico.
Little did she know I would use for scrapbooking.
I split it in half and then manipulated it around with my sewing machine so that it looked like a fishing net.  The way our fishermen drape it to dry after coming from the sea.
Then I broke it further to make way for my journaling!
there are real sea shells also as my ephemera on the net!

Thanks so much for being such cool investigators and coming to read some more here.
If you are a regular visitor, thanks!!! and to see the full view come to CSI to see the page!!!

Luv ya!
